About this stay

Ours is a unique home in the heart of Pacific Grove with two cottages beside each other in the same courtyard. The Main Cottage has a 4-poster king bed, kitchen and living area. The Carriage House has a wrought iron queen bed with convenience/express food prep (a microwave and mini-fridge). Both cottages come together with your rental. Great for two couples or a family to spread out. Retreat for writers & artists. Perfect escape from the inland heat. Take in the mild, coastal air this fall & winter. Go with your friends, family and grand kids to a dream trip they'll never forget. 15-min walk to aquarium, dining, shops, beach. Main cottage w Cal king. Guest quarters w queen. Private, lighted courtyard. Gas grill and 3 seating areas. 15-min drive to Pebble Beach & Carmel. 30-min drive to Big Sur. Guest access: Key-pads secure both homes. How we host you: We are available by text, call or email at any time to answer questions, be a guide or offer suggestions. We have a local property manager who is also available within 5 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if needed. Character of home: Suitable for quiet retreat: Pacific Grove's \ area is known for it's quaint cottages and cozy streets. We are in the Retreat, Third Addition. Even though our home has a secluded, treed courtyard, it is still within ear-shot of neighbors. So please enjoy your outdoor time quietly and observe strict hush-hush hours after 8pm during the week and 10pm on weekends. In May 2020 PG joined Monterey & Carmel in forcing visitors into high-priced hotels by banning you from renting homes for less than 30 days. We really enjoyed the outdoor space for dining and visiting with family. We traveled with our adult daughter and son-in-law law, so the separate dwellings and bathrooms was much appreciated. Also appreciated the heaters for chilly evenings/mornings as well. Looking forward to a return visit.

I stayed at Mel's place during the month of January and used only the Main Cottage. The property is located in a very peaceful residential neighborhood, roughly a 15-minute walk from downtown Pacific Grove. I never heard street noise, or sounds from neighboring properties. It was blissfully quiet. The property is fenced in, and completely private, with a large outdoor patio that includes outdoor seating and dining space. The Main Cottage is very much on the the cozy side. It's a relatively small space that is equipped with everything one might need: a functional kitchen, laundry, internet, and cable TV with access to Netflix & Amazon. The kitchen includes apartment sized electric stove and refrigerator, which were both big enough for my needs. There is a small table in the kitchen that seats one person comfortably, 2 people would be a tight squeeze. There's a larger table folded up in the living area, but not a lot of space to open it up. There are no actual closets in the cottage, but a small armoire, clothing rack, and plenty of strategically placed hooks are provided. The main heating source is a wall heater, which is noisy. An electric fireplace, and space heater are also available. Mel had the space heater delivered during my stay and it seems to be the best way to heat the cottage, no noise at all and fairly effective at heating both the living area and bedroom. There's also a dehumidifier that needs to be run each day. That can be noisy too, and I found the best solution was to run it while I was out. Mel was a welcoming and gracious host, allowing me to check-in early. There were even fresh flowers when I arrived. Mel was almost always quick to reply to any messages, and I was grateful that the heater was delivered during my stay.
