About this stay

This charming 1910 cottage in Asheville's historic Montford neighborhood was completely renovated and won the prestigious Griffin Award for historic preservation. The cottage retains its historic charm with original fireplace, doors, and woodwork. The kitchen has all the modern appliances you'd expect. In summer, enjoy A/C and fenced backyard with patio. In winter, enjoy the cozy fireplace. Location is one of our cottage's greatest assets. Leave your car at the cottage and explore Asheville's vibrant downtown. We are within a 10-minute walk to the heart of downtown Asheville's many locally owned restaurants. Walk to the Friday night drum circle, downtown after-five concerts, the library, or have glass of wine at Sante Wine Bar in the Arcade. Fully furnished, including all utilities, wi-fi, extended cable TV, internet, and laundry. The cottage sits at the end of a quiet street. Walk, bike, or jog through the beautiful and historic Montford neighborhood. The Greenway is only blocks away. Enjoy an evening sitting on the front porch, reading in front of the fireplace, or grilling on the patio in the fenced-in backyard. The cozy cottage is 865 sq ft and has all the amenities you'd expect. The master bedroom has flat-screened tv with large closet and guest bedroom has queen bed, small walk-in closet and office set up with printer/scanner. The LR has flat screen TV with extended hi def package. The kitchen has a gas stove, D/W, microwave, coffee maker, and just about everything you would need for gourmet dinners. The cottage is in a perfect location to explore downtown Asheville, dozens of great independent restaurants, many art galleries, and nearby River Arts district. We have been named Beer City for several years because of the notable craft breweries, some within walking distance. Owners can provide you with information on running or walking trails in the neighborhood and the surrounding mountains. In the cottage, there's an extensive information booklet containing a list of our favorite downtown restaurants, and the many great tourist attractions, many within walking distance or a short drive. Need to work? The second bedroom is set up with wireless internet, printer, work desk and lounge chair. The fenced backyard has a small patio with gas grill. Please call with any questions about the area or for open dates! Going on three years, the cottage has booked quickly for the entire year, so it's best to inquire EARLY. Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

The cottage was lovely - full of light and well laid out. We had everything we needed for a month. Cooking was a joy with the great pans, sharp knives, and ample dishware. Super convenient location. Would definitely return!

We loved staying in this charming house with its roomy, well-equipped kitchen overlooking the fenced-in backyard patio and garden. Although small, the house easily accommodated 2 adult family members who joined us for a few nights during our stay. Vicki is a responsive, helpful host.

This charming cottage in Asheville’s historic Montford neighborhood is simply delightful! Spacious, comfortable, beautifully decorated and well-appointed with everything one needs for an extended stay. It is convenient to everything in Asheville and small-dog friendly. Cozy and comfortable with gracious owners who communicate what you need to know before your arrival. A perfect place to stay - we look forward to coming back!

This was our second trip to Asheville and we were very pleased with the Short St property. It’s easy walking distance to downtown and several grocery stores. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful with wonderful walking areas for our four-legged companions. The house is comfortable and clean. Unfortunately, our trip ended with hurricane Helene and Vicki made great efforts to ensure we were safe. She’s an excellent host.
